UCLA will not play USC in its regular season finale in 2012. It is the third time since 1968 that the Bruins have not finished by facing their cross-town rival.
UCLA plays USC on Nov. 17, closes the season against Stanford in the Rose Bowl.
In 1998, a rescheduled game bumped the season past the expected UCLA-USC match-up. That was in 1998, when Hurricane Georges forced a game against Miami to be rescheduled from September to December, two weeks after the USC game.
Miami won the game, costing UCLA a chance to play in the first Bowl Championship Series national title game.
The last time the conference scheduled the Bruins to play a team other than USC in a season finale was 1980, when the Bruins faced Oregon State in Tokyo.
UCLA and USC played continuously since 1936, except for the 1946 season. The Bruins have played the Trojans to finish the regular season in all but 10 seasons. UCLA has a 4-5 record in those season finales.
